In Hollywood, Christmas trees range from $150 to $400 -- in New York, they've been reported to go as high as $500. But go to cities near where these trees are grown -- like Burlington Vermont and Portland Oregon -- and it's hard to spend more than $50. Is a Christmas Tree Price Index a livability metric for the future?

    trees in general should be, yes. Although, like all things, merely a portion of the metric. Paris has a high cost of living but many trees in parks..
