    Oh lord, this is all so surreal. But I will say this; I'm encouraged that the jury showed backbone, & didn't fall in lockstep behind the obviously flawed evidence. That has to count for something.

      Well, in Hamden's case and in the case of an American citizen (Al Arian), the Bush administration simply ignores the outcome of the trial and keeps them locked away.

      historically, the rule of law is a very fragile thing. the fact that this "trial" happened at all is a disgrace. unless there's a shock from the new congress that reverses this trend, we can mark now as the beginning of the end for law as we knew it.
